Notes from the County Health DirectorThe Cherokee County Health Department has received a grant to provide 160 individuals with menstrual cup kits that offer an alternative to traditional menstrual hygiene products, such as tampons or sanitary menstrual pads.

Hodgsons welcome new baby boy

Waylon Tate Hodgson arrived a few weeks early to share his birthday with his great-grandpa and beat the new year. Waylon was born December 27 at 11:58 p.m. weighing eight pounds, 0.2 ounces and 19 inches long.

A new business was welcomed to Columbus before Christmas by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce members. The Personal Twist flower shop and knick-knacks, owned and operated by the Cooper Family located in the former Country Gardens building.
The Columbus High School band under the direction of Gae Phillips performed during the annual Christmas concert held December 19. Numbers performed included O Come All Ye Faithful, In The Bleak Mid-Winter, Carol of the Drum, Christmas Favorites and Holiday Galop.
