Saporitos solid at the college level

Aubree Saporito and Addison Saporito, 2023 Graduates of Columbus Unified High School have continued their athletic careers on different stages at the college level.

City of Columbus officials were recognized in Topeka last week as they officially received a $650,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDDG) award which was presented to the city by Lt. Gov. David Toland.

After reviewing more than 25 applications, the Cherokee County Commissioners named Lyle Grandy as the new County Emergency Management director.Grandy will take over the office March 30 which has been vacant since December 9, 2025.

Amazon Army presentation tonight at genealogy museum

The miners of Cherokee and Crawford Counties played an important role in supporting the American troops during World War I. During that time production increased as well as the miner’s pay. However, after the war ended, production in the mines slowed.
