Funds sought for Community Fields

Summer baseball and softball is just around the corner and volunteers are currently preparing the fields for the youngsters to begin.To ensure the fields remain available for teams use this summer, the Columbus Community Field Board is currently seeking sponsors and donations.

Community blood drive planned Monday

A community blood drive will be held at the Columbus Community Building Monday, February 16 from noon until 5:30 p.m.Resolve to save lives by routinely giving blood in 2026 and you could win up to $56,000 in prize money.The 56-Day Challenge is returning for anand other exciting year.

USD 493 receives $5,000 CAN grant

A $5,000 Partner Grant was awarded to Columbus USD 493 in recognition of its outstanding efforts and participation in the 2025 Compass Academy Network (CAN) summer program. CAN representatives presented the award at the Monday, February 9 Columbus School Board meeting.

Pancake breakfast Saturday

A pancake breakfast will be held at the Black Diamond Lodge #274 in Weir Saturday, February 14.Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 11 a.m. The cost is $8 per person.The lodge is located at 107 West Main in Weir.

Real Estate Transfers

Roe Parsons, III and Joyce Hignite Parsons, West Mineral, conveyed a deed to the property located at 219 Mcclung Avenue, West Mineral, to Emily Grant, McCune. The deed was recorded January 21, 2026.
