Nathan Samuel-BScott Caton, 29, was arrested Sunday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of interference with law enforcement officer; obstruct or resist, domestic battery; knowing or reckless bodily harm and kidnapping; commission of a crime and is being held without bail.

A three-vehicle injury accident occurred at approximately 6:37 a.m. February 9 on Old Highway 166 just west of the K26 Interchange.

Five arrests made in sex trafficking operation

A joint operation targeting solicitation of minors for sex took place February 5-6.Several law enforcement agencies joined forces with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an operation that targeted offenders, who prey upon underage victims.

County’s vacation policy under scrutiny

The recent resignation of County Road Superintendent has brought the county’s vacation policy under scrutiny.In 2022 and 2023 the retirement of two long time employees, both with accumulated vacation time, caused the County Commissioners to put a new retirement plan in place.

Columbus officer completes KLETC training

Integrity Auditorium, in Hutchinson, filled quickly as friends and family gathered to celebrate the graduation of the 352nd Basic Training Class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC).Included in the graduating class was Aeriel Tennell, of the Columbus Police Department.
