Titans win MoKan Classic opener

The Columbus Titans got past the Liberal, Mo. Bulldogs, Monday, in the opening round of the MoKan Winter Classic Basketball Tournament. Columbus is hosting the boys portion of the Classic and got off to a quick start and a 14-8, first quarter lead.

A big finish for the Lady Titans at the MoKan Winter Classic Tournament wasn’t enough to get past the home team, Liberal, Monday. Columbus scored 16, fourth-quarter, points and held their hosts scoreless but it wasn’t enough to surpass the deficit they had built in the first three periods.

The Columbus Lady Titan Junior Varsity Team has played just four quarters of basketball in two games this season and are sitting with a record of 0-2 as they headed into CNC League play at St. Mary’s-Colgan last night.

Columbus Titan Wrestling swept their opening double dual in Girard, December 4 taking a 48-24 win over Girard and a 48-21 win over LaCygne-Prairie View. The Titans are off to a strong start on the season with numerous wrestlers taking wins in both duals.

Lady Titan Junior, Bentley Townsend, drives to the basket past Oswego Freshman, Colby Pease in the, 31-28, Columbus season opening win at Oswego. Bentley scored eight points in the win.

The Columbus Lady Titans edged the Oswego Lady Indians, 31-28, Thursday, in their 2025 season opener.The first four points of the game came at the charity stripe. Oswego’s Ava Franklin and Kodi Trimble, sophomores scored first.

Titan Sophomore, Jonas Stover, scored 27 points in the Columbus season opener at Oswego. Demitri Wiliamson, Indian Sophomore, defends. Williamson led Oswego with 16 points.

The Columbus Titan Basketball Team opened their season with a big win at Oswego, Thursday. A 21-point first quarter led to an overwhelming, 74-40 victory for Columbus.

Junior High Girls split at home with Galena

The Columbus Junior High Girls Basketball Teams hosted Galena in their last games before the Thanksgiving break, November 20. The Columbus Seventh Grade A Team came from behind to get the win, 20-17, but Galena poured in 11, third quarter points to take the 8A win, 26-16.

Lady Titan Senior, Alexandra Quisbert, received the award for Outstanding Blocking and Most Improved Award during the Lady Titan Volleyball end of season banquet at the Columbus Unified High School Gymnasium in October.

The Titan and Lady Titan Wrestling Teams opened their season last night in a triangular meet at Girard with Prairie View.The teams have a busy weekend with the Lady Titans in Caney today for the Kan-Okla Tournament starting at 2 p.m.The boys junior varsity team will be in Caney tomorrow at 10 a.m.
