Labette Co. has historic state playoff

Labette County (9-2), east second seed, topped Ottawa (7-4), east third seed, in their Kansas Class 4A sectional win on their home field, Friday. The historical win for the Grizzlies advances them to the sub-state level of the playoff with four teams remaining in the bracket.

Lady Titan Basketball week three action

The Columbus Junior High Lady Titan Basketball Team had a busy third week of action with three games on the schedule. Monday the team traveled to Pittsburg to play at St. Mary’s-Colgan then returned home to host Girard and Riverton.

Titans win 40 in home scramble

Columbus Junior High Titan Wrestling hosted Diamond, Mo., Webb City, Mo., and Labette County, Monday, in a two-state wrestling scramble. Co-lumbus had 40 wins and 12 losses on the night in a dominating performance.
Lady Titan Raelee Engroff earned wins in both her matches, Tuesday, against Parsons and Carl Junction, Mo. she had a win by fall in her match Monday in Columbus wrestling action at the CUHS Gymnasium.

Columbus combined wrestling team hosts matches

The Columbus Wrestling Team continued their home stand, Tuesday when they hosted Parsons and Carl Junction, Mo. The competition was evenly matched with the Titans coming away with 21 match wins and giving up 20 loses on the night.
Senior, Darcy Garrett, was recognized during Senior Night Ceremonies, October 17, at Titan Stadium. Darcy is a four-year member of the Titan Band and Titan Cross Country Team. She was escorted by her parents David and Sarah Garrett.

Two teams qualified for the 2025 Bassmaster Team Championship through Columbus Bass Club. Those teams are Brett Nichols and Jacob Larrison and Caleb Poenitske and David Pitts. Columbus Bass Club fishes bass tournaments in Kansas.

Columbus Junior High Wrestlers earn 17 medals

The Columbus Junior High Wrestling Team earned 17 first place medals at the Jayhawk Junior High Wrestling Tournament, Thursday, in Mound City. Seven of 11 girls and ten of 21 boys divisions were won by Columbus wrestlers, dominating the tournament.

Lady Titan Freshman, Cali Carpino, wrapped up her rookie season with an appearance on the Kansas Class 3-2-1A All-State First Team honors list by the Kansas Golf Coaches Association. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week.
