Life Christian wins league title

Life Christian’s Junior Division Bear Cubs edged Redfield’s Heritage Christian, 6-3 last Friday to capture their first outright Midstates Christian League softball championship since 2021. LCS and Heritage shared the title in 2023.

Local Area Youth Soccer tomorrow

The Columbus Area Youth Soccer opened their season Saturday with a full slate of games for ages three to ten. The season continues tomorrow with a morning full of action beginning at 9 a.m.

Carpino wins Chanute Tourney

Cali Carpino, Lady Titan Freshman, won her first tournament on the high school links, Monday, in Chanute. Cali has multiple second place finishes under her belt as the Lady Titans move to the halfway point of their 2025 season.

Southeast boys compete in Missouri Southern Stampede

Southeast High School Boys Cross Country Team returned to the Missouri Southern State University Stampede, Saturday after a three year absence.Coach Julie Jones knew it was time to get the boys team back in the Southern Stampede after their strong 2024 season.

Lady Lancers run away with medals

The Southeast High School Girls Cross Country team came away from Oswego with five medals in their first showing as a full team, Thursday.Oswego hosted their first cross country race, another small race for the Lady Lancers, but that didn’t derail them from their goal.

SE Volleyball wins one of three at Dexter tournament

The Southeast Lady Lancer Varsity Volleyball traveled went to Dexter to compete in the Dexter Tournament and came away with a 1-2 record.The tournament format is set up as two quadrangular brackets. The top two teams from each quad advanced to the finals.

Galena wins Columbus JH home opener

The Columbus Junior High Titan Football Team hosted Galena for their home opener, Thursday. The visiting Bulldogs scored twice in the fourth quarter to seal their win, 22-6.The Titans got on the scoreboard first after a scoreless first quarter.

CJHS 8A plays at SE Jamboree

The Columbus Junior High Lady Titan Eighth Grade participated in the Southeast Volleyball Jamboree, Saturday.The Lady Titans split the day with five wins and six losses.Oswego swept the first match in two tough sets, 2520; 25-22.Columbus got the win in the second match over Cherryvale 25-18; 25-16.

Lady Titans win Girard Invitational

The Columbus Lady Titans earned their second win in four tournaments, Thursday, in the Girard Invitational. Lead by junior, Natalie Wary, who was the top medalist, Columbus edged St. Mary’s-Colgan by two strokes with a four-man total of 186 to the Lady Panthers 188 for the win.

Ohmart wins Oswego’s first CC race

Sammi Ohmart, Lady Titan Eighth Grader won the first cross country race hosted by Oswego. Sammi complete the two-mile course in a time of 15:07 minutes as top medalist.Cora Rider and Hieyla Shelton finished in fourth and fifth places respectively with Cora running a time of 18:04.
