Week 2 results

Week two of the Kansas state football schedule had a few surprises in store for contest players. The Baxter Springs Lions matched their 2024 win total and begin their season2-0 with their win over Afton, Okla., 40-8.Labette County beat Winfield, 27-20, for their first 2-0 start since 2003. St.

Columbus 5th/6th shuts out Pittsburg

The Columbus Fifth and Sixth Grade Titans put on an offensive showcase in their 32-0 shut out in Pittsburg over Pitt-Mc-Dade Saturday in their season opener.Touchdowns of 50 and 60 yards were recorded by Dayton Hughes.

CJHS 8th wins at Colgan

The Columbus Junior High Eighth Grade Volleyball Team picked up a pair of wins Monday in Pittsburg. The Lady Titans took a two-set win in an exciting 8A match over the St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers, 25-16; 25-22. Piper Hill led Columbus with five ace service points.

Southeast split their Three Rivers League Volleyball night, 1-1, with a win over their hosts, Altoona and a loss to Oswego, Tuesday, in Altoona. The Lady Lancers breezed to a two-set win over Altoona, 25-3; 25-6 and lost two competitive sets to Oswego, 17-25; 21-25.Southeast will travel to St.

The Independence Junior Varsity Football Team came to Columbus, Monday and edged past the young Titans, 16-14, to complete the two-game sweep.Columbus struck first on a 50-yard interception, pick-six, by freshman, Jayden Dohle, with six minutes to play in the first quarter.

The Columbus Lady Titan Junior High Volleyball Teams opened their season on the road, Tuesday, in Galena then traveled to Pittsburg, Thursday, for a triangular with Girard and their hosts, the Lady Purple Dragons.

Lancers sweep cross country meet

The Southeast High School Cross Country Team swept their season opening meet at Erie Saturday. In addition to winning the boys and girls varsity team titles, Kendyl Renn, senior was the top medalist in the girls race and Zayne Gabem, senior, was the first to cross the finish line in the boys 5K run.
