The Columbus Titan Cross Country Team tied for second place at the Labette County High School Haley’s Run Cross County Meet, Thursday, in Altamont. Columbus and Labette County each finished with a total off 58 points and a tiebreaker put the Titans in third place on the podium. St.

Altis, Garrett place in JV race

Lady Titans Cara Altis and Darcy Garrett placed fourth and tenth in the first meet of the season for the Columbus Cross Country Team. The junior and senior ran the 5K Junior Varsity race at Labette County High School’s Haley’s Run, Thursday, in Altamont.Cara had a fourth place time of 27:37.

Titan Junior High Football Thursday

The Columbus Junior High School Football Team will take to the gridiron, Thursday for their first game of the 2025 season.The Titans will be on the road in Riverton for their first game of the season.Kick off for all the junior high school games is 5:30 p.m.

Lady Titan Freshman, Cali Carpino began her rookie campaign for the Columbus Unified High School Lady Titan Golf Team by placing second in the Columbus Invitational Tournament, Thursday, at Brush Creek Golf Course. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week.
The Columbus Unified High School Lady Titan Golf Team hosted their season opener, Columbus Invitational, Thursday, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. Led by Cali Carpino, who placed second in individual scoring, the Lady Titans placed second in the team standings, three strokes behind Caney Valley. Team members are: Coach Jerry Smiley, Fallon Smiley, freshman; Natalie Wary, junior: Hannah Noel, junior; Amory Neely, junior; Cali Carpino, freshman; and Addison Johnson, freshman.

Lady Titans second at home invite

Freshman, Cali Carpino and the Lady Titan Golf Team took second place in the first tournament of the season, Thursday, at the Columbus Brush Creek Golf Course.Cali shot a 42 on the par 36, nine-hole, Columbus Course, tying with two other golfers for second place.

The Baxter Springs Lions got off to a good start toward improving their 2-7 season in 2024 with an opening day, road win over Riverton in week one of the Kansas High School Football 2025 schedule. Baxter Springs breezed to a 29-12 win over their CNC League rival Friday night in Riverton.

Mini Football kicks off Saturday

The Columbus Mini Football League will kick off their season Saturday on the road in Pittsburg.The third and fourth grade team comprised of 11 third graders and 15 fourth graders will take the field at 10 a.m. against Pitt-Jordan at Hutchinson Field.

Football opener tonight

The Columbus Fighting Titan Football Team travels to Independence tonight for a non-conference game with the Class 4A Bulldogs in their season opener at 7 p.m.The Kansas Class 3A Titans hosted Indy for their 2024 opener and came away with a 45-28 victory over their visitors.
