Columbus Museum ReportI have learned down through the years to expect the unexpected here at the museum. This month was full of unexpected events.On the third we had a flood in the lady’s restroom. The line to the handicap stool had sprung a leak. Many thanks to Randy Coble for coming to our rescue.

Members of the Southeast Lancer High School marching band took part in the annual Weir Homecoming celebration held the weekend of Friday the 13th. As the band marched along the parade route, they played a number of tunes to entertain the crowd.

Marvin and Dorothy Wahl spent the last week of August in New Orleans, La., attending meetings at the American Legion National Convention. The highlight of the American Legion Auxiliary was the installation of the new President.Trish Ward follows Lisa Williamson from the department of Alaska.

A 50th anniversary celebration was held For Ron and Elaine Reynolds August 20 at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus. Area students graduate from Wichita State

Wichita State University conferred 524 degrees to 493 students in summer 2024. Emily A. Peterson, of Columbus earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, ECU/Elementary Educ Apprentice Peyton Q.

September 11, will always be a day of recognition of the gallantry of the nation’s first responders. The date was marked by the attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. However, those attacked only called attention to the daily efforts of the first responders in Cherokee County.
