Cherokee County Girl Scouts held their event “Be Prepared Not Scared” from April 29 through May 1 at the Girl Scout House in Columbus. Leader Mavis Bowin invited some of the girls who sold the most cookies to smash pies in her face.

City seeks sales tax continuance

Voters will be asked to decide in a June 14 election if they want to continue the current half-percent sales tax after the expiration of the current tax July 1. The current tax was passed in 2016 for the improvements in the city.
