Donations to Columbus museum make for early Christmas

Santa came early to the Columbus Museum this year. He wasn’t in a red suit and he didn’t come in his sleigh but he did come bearing nice gifts. We received a very nice monetary donation from Thomas Rhoads. We greatly appreciate this gift.

Brassart elected Clerk by GOP

In the Plexaglass palace known as the District Court Room members of the Republican Party elected Rebecca Brassart as the new Cherokee County Clerk. In a three person race Brassart took an early lead over challengers Sammye Opela and Jenny Shiltz.

Council appoints new member

All of the positions on the Columbus City Council are filled as of Monday night’s meeting in City Hall. “This evening, I’d like to appoint a person from the second ward to fill Mrs. Houser’s position,” Mayor Grant Spieth said before addressing that individual.

Commission hears report from Sheriff

Giving a recap on some departmental highlights from 2021, Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves went over a year-end report during the County Commissioners meeting on Monday morning. “There’s some stuff you might be interested in,” Groves said to the commissioners.
