With the prediction of falling temperatures and potential freezing rain this weekend in our region, Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves reminds residents of these important winter weather tips and suggestions. He says, try to limit the amount of time outside in the cold.

Library board hears estimate from electrician

The electrician’s report was one of the times on the agenda at the Columbus Public Library Board meeting was held December 13. The meeting was called to order at 6:08 p.m.. by President Curtis Wheatley. Other board members present included Becky Shearburn, Jessica Rider and Maggie Mooney.

A one-vehicle rollover accident occurred December 30 at approximately 2:40 p.m. A 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Joree Taylor French, 25, Columbus, was traveling east on Southeast Quaker Road near Southeast 10 th Street. The passenger’s side tires dropped off the edge of the roadway.

Responding to the 600 block of West Oak Street, City employees worked to fix a leak in the water line on High School Ave. between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday. Gallons of fresh water overflowing down the slope of West Oak Street and starting to spill over into the path of the passing traffic.
