Council discusses enforcement officer

Discussions on appointing Gary Holt as a full time enforcement officer and what duties entails for the City of Columbus were conducted at a special meeting of city officials. Holt said he was seeking to determine his role on handling permits and code enforcement.

Expansion of US 166 east of Baxter begins

The week of January 3, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) expects to begin work on a project to expand a sixmile section of U.S. 166 in Cherokee County. A four-lane expressway will be constructed between the U.S. 166/U.S. 400 and U.S.166/K-26 junctions.
