Baxter school board recognizes Kirkpatrick

With the holidays and new year quickly approaching the Baxter Springs USD 508 School Board met one last time in 2021 on December 13 to discuss district business Board member Mary Kirkpatrick was recognized for her twelve years of service to the Baxter Springs USD 508.

Little Mr. and Miss Holiday contest returned to Baxter Springs this Christmas. Elijah Fidler was named Little Mr. Holiday and Little Miss Holiday went to Layla Fry. Their awards were presented during the halftime performance at the Baxter Springs High School Boys Basketball game Friday night. Both of this year’s winners are three years old. CAC hosts holiday worship service

The Columbus Area Churches held their annual Community Christmas service on Sunday evening at the Columbus Christian Center.

Work to begin on Brush Creek bridge

Work is set to begin on a frequently driven bridge over Brush Creek on Southeast Wyandotte Road in the future. As part of the Monday morning Cherokee County Commissioners Meeting, Road and Bridge Supervisor Cody Zook addressed the board with an update on the structure.
