Members of the Columbus Lions Club recently put up and decorated the Christmas tree in front of the courthouse. Those helping included Steve Jameson, Jake Eddington and Grant Spieth. The tree will be lighted before the parade tonight (Wednesday).

Home invasion leads to shooting

While enroute to a report of a person breaking into a residence on Cleveland Avenue Monday evening, Baxter Springs officers were notified that an adult male had been shot. Once on the scene, officers first contacted a male subject, identified as Shawn James Tallant Jr., of Baxter Springs.

Dog park opens in Baxter Springs

After a short delay in fencing and supplies, the dog park is now complete. Located at 7th Street and Washington Avenue in Baxter Springs, is the new Ronald D. Thomas Dog Park Ȧ donation from his estate financed the park.
