Cherokee County Jail Report

William Carroll Scearce, 55, was arrested Thursday by another jurisdiction on a warrant and was released on $1,000 bail. Elizabeth A. Raulston, 36, was arrested Wednesday by Galena Police officers on charges of failure to appear and was released on $1,500 bail.

Winter forage conference December 8 at Newton

Fra Andreas Garcia was an 18th-century Mexican Franciscan friar and folk artist who worked in what is now New Mexico. He carved and painted wooden figures of saints, called bulto, that were about 12 to 18 inches high. The figures were used as devotional images as well as artistic objects.

Susan Schultz and her grandchildren Landin Oheme and Rylee Oheme handed out Christmas cards to those picking up Thanksgiving baskets Tuesday. Columbus High School Students conducted a food drive November 15 to November 19, collecting over 1,600 items for the baskets. Other churches, businesses and organizations provided some of the items. 165 area families received a basket.

Making turkey day happy

Speedy deliveries and holiday cheer were on full display Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, in Columbus as Thanksgiving basket deliveries were on their way to local families for the holiday.
