Youngsters from the area attended the recent Community Vacation Bible School held at Camp Joy Church in Columbus. Area pastors dressed up as heroes from the Bible and told “their” stories. In addition listening to the stories, the children played games, made crafts and had snacks.

KDOT to start Highway 7 drainage project

A field survey for a drainage repair project on K-7 in Cherokee County is planned to begin Monday, June 28, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). The survey locations are north and south of Star Valley Road. KDOT expects the survey to be finished by July 16.

Voucher offered to answer survey

A survey designed to collect information abut local communities and their greatest needs. The health and wellness assessment survey will be taken beginning on-line.

Youth entrepreneurial winners announced

The second annual Cherokee County Summer Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge is complete and winners have been announced. Sponsored by Cherokee County Economic Development offering local students an opportunity to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills and showcase their creativity.

Making their first sale, the Columbus Land Bank has sold the property located at 201 Maple Street to Steven Burton. Burton presented a plan to the Land Bank Board to build a structure that food trucks would park adjacent to. The building would become a cover for food purchasers.
