The following persons were scheduled to appear before Judge John Bullard in Columbus Municipal Court Monday, June 14 at 4 p.m. Kristina Ann Andrews, 35, Columbus, was rescheduled for trial July 12 on a charge of animal running at large.

Singer, author performs at JPL

Children in attendance at the Johnston Public Library Tales and Tails program had a visit with Aaron Fowler, Bella and Choco. Fowler is an artist, musician and educator. Bella and Choco are his therapy dogs. The children were able to pet the dogs and learn about how they help people.

Wildcat District 4H holds food show

Seven 4-H members from across the Wildcat District participated in the Favorite Foods Show Monday, June 7. The Favorite Foods show is designed to teach members menu planning, nutrition and how to set a table. Members decide on a menu and theme. They then prepare their “favorite” food from the menu.

Cook receives Quilt of Valor

A Quilt of Valor was presented to Wayne Cook of Baxter Springs June 8, Kathi Lunday with the local QOV group presented the quilt at the June American Legion meeting. First Lieutenant Cook, Army Infantry, served in Vietnam.

Local farmer Jeanna Jones recently directed a $2,500 Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation to Southeast High School Yearbook and Photography Department.
