You can’t make an omelet without breaking an egg, and apparently you can’t upgrade water meters without causing some billing problems. The City of Baxter Springs switched from mechanical to new state of the art electronic meters causing confusing billing to the customers.

Black bear sightings near Baxter Springs

Recent black bear sightings in Cherokee County and Crawford County were the seventh and eighth since 2015 that Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism is aware of. The Baxter Springs sighting caught on video was north of the high school and the bear was traveling toward the east.

Pitt Casino May revenue remains over $3 million

Revenue at the Kansas Crossing Casino was reported at $3,294,737 for the month of May yielding $32,947.37 to Cherokee County. According to County Clerk Kyle Rennie Cherokee County received $34,889.

One of the most unique shooting stations at the Sporting Clays U.S. Open at Claythorne Lodge involves the clay targets being thrown from a trap suspended on the crane. Though this is not a part of the Open scoring it is popular with the shooters.
