By Adaven Scronce Soon we will be experiencing warmer weather and as the weather starts to warm up, it is important to be on the lookout for Blue-green algae in ponds. Blue-green algae can occur in a pond as a result of runoff that carries nitrogen or phosphorus into the pond.

US Open starts at Claythorne

The world is visiting Cherokee County this week as the 2021 Sporting Clays Association U.S. Open is being held at Claythorne just seven miles west of Columbus. There have been 1,051 registered shooters on the grounds from 45 states and four foreign countries, each one hoping to become the U.S.

KDOT to resurface state Highway 103

A resurfacing project on K-103 is expected to begin the week of June 14 according to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). The project area covers the entire route, starting at the K-7 junction and continuing east to U.S. 69. The activity includes a mill and overlay.
