The property, formerly the site of a grocery store, between Kansas Avenue and Indiana Street adjacent to Walnut Street, has been purchased by Iron Horse Development LLC, with plans to build a new building a new 10,500 square foot retail building on the site.

Farmers market debuts

The opening of the Columbus Farmers Market on Thursday evening brought many new vendors and even more new shoppers. New benches, made of recycled material were purchased this year for the market. A new sign was installed calling attention to the Farmers Market.

County unemployment drops below 3-percent

Unemployment in Cherokee County has returned to pre-COVID-19 levels as the April State reports indicate only 293 people are unemployed in the county. The state report shows a total of 9,941 total workforce with 9,648 employed. The county had a 2.9 percent unemployment rate in April down from 3.

Free drive-by lunch program opens today

A free lunch program for adults and children will begin today (Monday)at the St. Rose Parish Hall at the corner of Walnut and Kansas. Serving will begin at 10:45 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. at the Walnut Street (north) door.
