There may have never been, at least up until that point in time, a nation of people more disgusting to God than the Amorites. These were some of the original inhabitants of the land of Canaan. Their practices may have fallen under the category of “religion” to a certain degree but not the kind that was acceptable to Jehovah (1 Kings 21:26). Idolatry was just the tip of the iceberg.
