Back in the mid 1980s I was secretary of the National Association of Extension Home Economists. Our president, June Taylor was from North Carolina. When her presidential term was up, she presented each of the officers with a special gift. It was a small brass rubbing.

Our Sunday schools, in the past, taught most of us the song “Jesus loves me this I know.” Nothing shows this more than the story of Jesus at the well with the Samaritan woman (John 4:1-45). This woman came to the well, alone and in shame. That’s because her community saw her as unacceptable.
