Baxter Springs UMC to host potato feed

The United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs is sponsoring a Baked Potato Feed on Tuesday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 1310 East Ave, Baxter Springs.The menu includes: baked potato with assorted toppings, salad and choice of cake. This is dine in or carry out.

Providence over luck

As we celebrate the approaching St. Patrick’s Day, we often hear talk about “luck” in the spirit of the holiday. We also may tend to use this term in our daily lives, as we think about how someone is “lucky” to have nice things or a good job.

Christian comedy show at Oswego Baptist Church

Christian comedy fans are invited to a laughterfilled evening at Oswego Baptist Church. On Saturday, March 7, Bob Courtney, also known as Pastor Pudge, will share a unique comedic style. Admission is free and no tickets are required.Festivities begin with a chili dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Assessing our character

Wright makes 2,000 caps for infants

In June 2023 Columbus resident Ruby Wright had made over 1,000 hand knitted caps for babies born at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.Fast forward to 2026. Wright has now completed 2,011 caps. She recently delivered a cap to two-day old Afredo Rodriguez.
