The 2024 Grand Champion Market Beef shown by Columbus FFA member Cole Youngblood at the Cherokee County Fair. The Angus beef was sold in the premium auction for $3,400 to Crossland Construction in Columbus. Youngblood is the son of KC and Courtney Youngblood.
Adalynn Gregory, a member of the Heritage Youth of America, showed the Grand Champion goat at the 2024 Cherokee County Fair. At $3,800 she received the top premium of any animal sold during the Saturday evening sale. The premium buyer was Draeger Farms. Adalynn is the daughter of Zack and Miranda Gregory.
Lone Elm Beaver’s member Cheyenne Gavin showed her grand champion chicken in the poultry competition. The fowl received a bid of $850 from Labette Bank. Donna Westervelt represented the bank at the sale.
The Grand Champion Feeder Calf was shown by Spring Valley Sparklers 4-H Club member Samantha Ohmart. Samantha is the daughter of Angel and Bub Tate. The calf was purchased by Dr. Rob Herron Dentistry. This was the 36th year Dr. Harron has purchased a Grand Champion animal at the Cherokee County Fair.
The Cherokee County 2024 Fair Grand Champion Sheep was shown by Kasyn Robinson of the Spring Valley Sparklers 4-H Club. The sheep brought $1,500 in the premium sale from Dr. Robert Herron Dental Centers. This is his 36 year of buying champion livestock at the fair. Kasyn is the daughter of Caleb and Megan Robinson.
Glittering Stones 4-H member Allison Brown exhibited her colony of rabbits and received the grand champion ribbon for her efforts. The rabbits received a premium sale of $1100 from American Bank. The bank was represented by Jim Gaither and Nicole Alford and Crystal Alford.
The 2024 Grand Champion swine shown by Lone Elm Beaver 4-H Club member Jaxon Harper at the Cherokee County Fair. Saturday night it sold in the premium sale for $3,500 to Jay Hatfield Motor Sports in Pittsburg. Harper is the son of Madalyn, Hazen Hale and Steven Harper.
