Though the centennial celebration of the opening of Route 66 is over a year away the official kick-off of the event occurred Friday afternoon in Galena.
The unveiling of a new giant Route 66 sculpture took place following a meet and greet of the dignitaries including the president of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and member of the association from Illinois, Missouri and Indiana.
