Ronald “Jay” James Martin, 57, Columbus, died Saturday, July 6, 2024 in Columbus.
Born May 5, 1967 in Wichita, Jay was the son of Ronald G. and Marsha Dianne (Smith) Martin.
He was a graduate of Columbus Unified High School with the class of 1986 and was involved in Future Farmers of America.
Jay was a farmer with his dad, also working for Westco, and Mike’s Fine Foods.
His hobbies were fishing and collecting Hot Wheels. He also loved black Labs and had several over the years.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother, sister Julie Redlon and grandparents Harvey and Vera Martin and Blair and Laurel Smith.
Survivors include his father Ronald; brother John Martin (wife Kristi) of Weir; sister Melanie Wary of Pittsburg; and two daughters Lucrisha Hicks Ridgeway of Pittsburg and Megan Sullivan Hamill of Edmond, Okla.; and granddaughter Brooklyn Hamill.
Cremation arrangements are being handled through Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus. The family will gather privately at a later date to bury cremains at Fly Creek Cemetery.
