Bernard Eugene Hallacy 87, Girard, died 8:51 a.m. Monday July 8, 2024 at the Autumn Place in Columbus following an illness.
Born October 3, 1936 in Girard, Bernard was the son of John M. and Leona I. (Trainor) Hallacy.
Bernard was a graduate of Walnut High School in 1954. Bernard was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked most of his life as a farmer and fence builder. He was of the Catholic faith. He loved fishing, playing cards and spending time in the outdoors.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jack Hallacy, Pat Hallacy, Jerry Hallacy, Dwayne Hallacy, Rita Tierney and Hubert Hallacy.
Survivors include his siblings Bob Hallacy and wife Edna of Brazilton; Bill Hallacy, Mary Kay Mason, Joan Marie Scales and Herb Hallacy, all of Girard; Dorothy Murphy of Pittsburg; Virginia Cronister and husband Brent and Leona Lou Clarke and husband John all of Wichita.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 16 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with Fr. Jeremy Huser officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott. Family will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Monday July 15, 2024 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Girard American Legion. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Friskel Funeral Home 230 E.
