Carol Darlene French, 77, Baxter Springs, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Legacy Living in Baxter Springs.
Born September 2, 1946, in Baxter Springs, Carol was the daughter of the union of Richard Dean Swaim Sr., and Betty Lou (Norman) Swaim. After high school Carol attended beauty college and later owned and operated her own beauty salon. Carol and Richard G. French were united in marriage August 5, 1966 in Baxter Springs.
Carol was a member of the Park Hill Nazarene Church, where she was a current board member. She was also involved in the Lostine Lassies and the Dorcas Club. She volunteered her time in hospice for over a year. She enjoyed spending time outside attending to the garden and flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Caring for her family was her greatest joy.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Richard D. Swaim Sr. and Betty Lou Swaim and niece Rachelle Sue Swaim.
Survivors include her husband Richard G. French of the home; two sons, Greg French and Tammy Russell and Randy French, all of Riverton; one daughter Lisa (French) Harden and husband Jon of Neosho, Mo; brother, Richard D. Swaim Jr. and wife Marilyn of Riverton; five grandchildren, Craig and Madison Lasiter, Dylan and Megan Harden, Joree French and Devyn McKinley, Chandler and Zoe Harden, and Kennedee French and Trey Robinson; great grandchildren, Camron Lasiter, Finnigan Mckinley, Riggs McKinley, Hux McKinley, Judah Harden and Aniston Harden and arriving in August Sophie Harden.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 21 at the Park Hill Nazarene Church. Carol has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in the Quaker Valley Cemetery in Riverton. Memorial contributions may be made to Park Hill Nazarene Church.
