Sallie Rae Clark

Sallie Rae Clark, known as Granny by some, 87, Oswego, died Friday, August 16, 2024 in Oswego.

Born July 27, 1937, in Wichita, Sallie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maggie (Wharton) Winters.

Sallie and Edward Clark were united in marriage August 27, 1957, in Wichita in a double ceremony with her sister Susie and Bill Dysart. Edward preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son Bryan Clark and wife, Glee (Overman), of rural Oswego; two granddaughters, Kelsey Brands of Vandalia, Illinois, and Taylor McRay and husband, Jordan, of Las Vegas, Nevada; one grandson, Eli Clark, and fiance Haley Peryer of Ozark, Missouri; two great granddaughters, Avelyn Brands and Apoya Peryer, and one great grandson, Jameson Brands; one brother Mike Wharton and wife Kaycee of Mary Esther of Florida and many nieces and nephews also surivive.

Sallie worked for Koch Industries, Dwayne’s Photo, and at Coral Lanes bowling alley. Sallie’s warm heart and gentle spirit is her legacy. She was known for her dedication to God, family, and hard work. Her home was a sanctuary for many in need, people and animals, alike.

She loved sharing her talents with her family, including quilting, crocheting, knitting, canning, gardening. Always ready with a Bible verse or a song she also had a way of spreading joy with a bit of orneriness, a mischievous twinkle in her eye and the best giggle ever. She will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 24 at the Derfelt Funeral Home of Oswego from 1 p.m.-2 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery.
