Brian Keith Newell, 58, Pittsburg died September 10, 2024, at his residence. Born April 10, 1966, in Kingman, Brian was the son of Ralph Lee and Clovis Nadine (Owens) Newell.
Brian attended Columbus High School before transferring to Pittsburg High School his junior year, where he graduated.
He spent his career working at various local companies, including Masonite in Pittsburg, Acme Brick in Weir, Jayhawk Chemical, and Barnes Millworks, among others.
Brian loved spending time outdoors especially hunting and taking his coon hounds out on a run. He enjoyed visiting everyone in the neighborhood and giving a call to whoever would answer. He had a deep passion for time spent smoking meats, making sausage and sharing his creations with friends and family. Brian loved watching his grandkids succeed and enjoy life, always cheering them on. He loved to spend time with his daughter watching her play softball in her childhood. You could always find him at a ball field or out in the backyard with him being her personal catcher with the occasional banged up shin. Any Sunday in the fall you could catch him watching a Chiefs game and opening day in the spring listening to the Royals on the radio. Time spent with his friends and family were his most cherished memories.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shaun L. Switlik.
Survivors include his former wife, Becky Newell of Pittsburg; his daughter, Ashley Newell, and her fiancé, Chris St. Onge, along with their two children, Karson and Knox St. Onge, all of Gravette, Ark.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 18 at the Gibson cemetery in Neosho, Mo. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
The family requests that memorials be sent to the St. Onge family to support the grandchildren’s education. These may be mailed or dropped off at the funeral home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762.
