Robbie Dale Fitch

Robbie Dale Fitch, 67, rural Galena, died September 27, 2024 as a result of an accident at his home.

Born June 16, 1957 in Neosho Mo., Robbie was the son of Chester “Bud” and Patsy Fitch. He attended Riverton High School where he was a standout athlete. At the age of 18, Robbie began his 45 plus year career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad where he served as a brakeman, conductor, and finally as a yardmaster.

Robbie was father of three daughters; Angie (Frankie) Frazier and Carrie (Orion) Roller, all of Baxter Springs; Lisa (Briley) Rivers, Ottawa; one son Matthew (Sabra) Fitch of Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren Hunter, Remi, Olivia, Grady, Cody, and Luke; and three great grandchildren Blaze,Jerzey, and Kyzenn.

Robbie was an avid KU Jayhawk fan and collector of train memorabilia. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shopping, as well as mowing and caring for his yard.

Robbie was preceded in death by his mom, Patsy (Wittenmeyer) Fitch, and his dad, Chester “Bud” Fitch.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Velma Fitch of Seneca, Missouri, and one sister Sherry Kisling of Seneca, Missouri, as well as all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Derfelts in Baxter Springs Wednesday, October 2. Visitation will begin at noon and the memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Rob’s memory may make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization he felt strongly about as it honored his dad and other veterans who bravely served in the military.
