Paula M. Smith, 82, Oswego, died at 9:25 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Oswego Health and Rehabilitation facility.
Born January 1, 1943 at Parsons, Paula was the daughter of Woodrow and Mildred Ruth (Larery) Schmid. She grew up at Parsons and attended school there, graduating from Parsons High School in 1960. She then attended the Parsons Junior College and the Neosho County Community College and received an Associate’s of Arts Degree.
Paula and Jerry Linn Smith were united in marriage September 10, 1961 in Parsons. The couple then moved to Oswego where she was employed at the former Stephens Manufacturing Company. She later worked at Chatham Pottery and then the Oswego Post Office from 1980 until retiring in 1995. She then bought Weston’s Flowers and operated it until 2016.
She was Christian. She served on the Recreation and Library Boards of Directors and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband Jerry L. Smith, of the home; one son and daughter in-law Douglas and Julie Smith, of Oswego; one daughter and son in-law – Rebecca and Matt McClenning, of Parsons; two grandchildren Kaci McClenning, of Parsons and Megan Gudde her husband, Josh, of Eureka; one great-grandson Barrett Gudde of Eureka; one sister Suzanne Frew, of Tucson, Ariz.
