Ronald Mark Johnson (Ronnie), 69, Columbus, died Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Born July 27, 1956, in Columbus, Ronnie was the son of Ronald and Iris (Richards) Johnson. Ronnie and Cindi Carlson were united in marriage December 27, 1975, with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of love and dedication. Ronnie was a busy man, dabbling in many occupations, hobbies and community roles. He spent a few years working for the railroad, before moving on to work at the Kansas Army Ammunition plant for a time. He was a dedicated coach for many years, mentoring young people as he coached them in various sports. He also spent some time high in the sky as an instructor and pilot of Powrachute aircraft where he enjoyed giving rides, and keeping Cindi worried about his crazy antics. He ended his working years as car salesman with Jay Hatfield Auto Group before retiring in 2019.

Everyone who knew Ronnie knew that he was a man with a deep faith in God. Over the years he pastored in many churches throughout the community. He performed wedding ceremonies, funerals and was always ready with a faith message for any who needed it.

Ronnie was well known in the community, spending his whole life in Columbus. He graduated from the Columbus Unified High School Class of 1974. He was very competitive and enjoyed supporting the local sports teams and lending a hand wherever he could. He enjoyed running, walking, playing pickleball and stopping to visit with neighbors and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Rick Johnson.

Survivors include his wife Cindi; his son Jeremiah and wife Melissa and Michelle Mosler whom he loved as a daughter and her husband Rocky; grandchildren Dylan Lee, Graci Johnson, Emerald Anderson, and honorary granddaughter Malarie Studebaker and her husband Ryan; honorary great-grandchildren Sawyer and Sutton Studebaker; as well as his beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Visitation will be held at Derfelt Funeral Home in Columbus, Thursday, May 21 from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. followed by the funeral at 6 p.m.
