It wouldn’t be a parade without music. Central Junior High Marching Band turned out for last year’s parade. No doubt their songs will have toes tapping again during this year’s event. The Columbus Day Parade is scheduled to begin at 9:40 a.m. and travel from Vermont to Tennessee on Maple Street.
During the Columbus Day Parade last year, members of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts marched the length of the route. The boys and their leaders carried their pack’s banner as well as the American flag.
Taking flight (weather permitting) at this year’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta will be Little Jet Piloted by Christal Schneider out of Wichita.
Cherokee County Girl Scouts marched in the Columbus Day Parade last year. Girl Scouts are active in numerous community service projects and help out in many activities.
