Columbus Fire Chief Steve Burton looks at the duty book on the back of the fire command car. Each firefighter has a tag which they place around the book indicating what part of the fire they are handling. “This tells us exactly who is doing what at the fire and where they are.”

Just hours after the severe injury of a Baxter Springs firefighter, other county volunteer firefighters were spending their Saturday training to prevent future injuries.
