AYRA rodeo action comes to Columbus Saddle Club Arena

Youngsters of all ages compete in rodeo events. This young rider was holding on tight during the mutton bustin’ competition held August 28 in the Columbus Saddle Club Arena. Mutton bustin’ looks a bit like bronco busting, but is geared toward rodeo contestants between the ages of four and seven.

Youth bee keeping scholarship

Applications for the Beekeeping Scholarship Program are now being taken by the Cherokee County Bee Keepers. The applicant must be between the ages of 12 and 17 years old by January 1 of the application year. The applicant must be a resident within a 30- mile radius from Columbus.

Cherokee County 4-H had named their member of the month for September. Zoie Elmore is 15 years old and a member of the Spring Valley Sparklers. Elmore is currently the club president. At the fair, she has shown horses, breeding beef, swine, goats, chickens and waterfowl.
