Howard D. “Dean” Riddle, 65, of Chetopa, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home. Born March 16, 1958, in Steeleville, Mo., Howard Dean was the son of Howard Riddle and Deloris (Furnas) Wiens.
For many years, Dean trained mules and broke horses and he loved team roping. In his earlier years, he boxed professionally for 13 years. Spending time with his family was his greatest enjoyment. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed the time he spent with his buddies, especially going deer and coon hunting and calling fish.
Dean is survived by his wife, Tracy Riddle of the home; son, Joey Conrad of Chetopa; three stepsons, Josh Titus (Natalie), Brett Messer (Krystine) and Chris Messer (Melanie) and six grandchildren. His mother, Deloris Wiens of Chetopa; stepmother, Deloris Riddle of Chetopa; four sisters – Kathy Taylor (Donnie), Linda Dilliner (John), Lillie Shoate (Paul), and Ruella Banzet (Brock); two brothers, Pete Riddle (Lou) and Cletis Wiens; two bonus brothers, Bill Elsworth (Tammy) and Larry Wimp; several nieces and nephews along with numerous cousins also survive.
Dean was preceded in death by his fathers, Howard “Bud” Riddle and Dale Wiens; one brother, David Riddle; and one sister, Denise Burdux.
The graveside service were held Wednesday, May 31 at Mitchell Cemetery, north of Oswego.
