Titans earn trip to 4A State Tourney

Titan Freshman, Mason O’Banion, wrestled his way to a Kansas Class 4A Regional Wrestling Championship at the tournament in Independence, Saturday. Mason (33-1) won the 175-pound weight class to punch his ticket to the Kansas Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament in Salina, Thursday-Saturday.

State Tournament has new format

The Kansas State High School Activities Association has changed the format for the 2024 State Wrestling Tournaments. For the first time, it will be a three-day event for the boys and the girls. Wrestlers will have to make weight each day for three consecutive days.

Titan of the Week

Titan Junior, Jace Midgett, came up with the put-back at the buzzer that beat Galena for the first time in five years, 37-36, Friday night in Galena. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Titans earn hardware at Brawl

Multiple Titan Wrestlers earned hardware at the Frontenac Youth Brawl, Sunday, and were home in time to watch the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

Rec Basketball to host Galena teams

The Columbus Recreation Youth Basketball League will host Galena tomorrow for a full morning of games in three USD493 Gymnasiums. The roundballers will make use of the CUHS, Central Main, and Round-top Gymnasiums. Admission fee for the games will be three dollars for adults.

Natalini second at Topeka Throwdown

Lucas Natalini took a trip to Topeka, Saturday, and came home with a second place finish in the 2024 Top Town Throwdown. Lucas wrestles with the Columbus Wrestling Club in the 73-pound, ten-andunder age group. He placed third, Sunday, at the Frontenac Youth Brawl.

Six Lady Titans sign college letters

Lady Titan Senior, Taryn Billings, signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Allen Community College Red Devils Softball Team. Taryn is a four-year member of the Lady Titan Softball Team and the Titan Band. She played soccer for two years.

Titans lose non-league contest to Nados

The Columbus Titan Basketball Team hosted Coffeyville for a nonleague contest, Monday, February 5, at the CUHS Gymnasium. The visiting Golden Tornado took the win, 69-41, over the hometown Titans. Coffeyville opened with the first basket of the game.

Holmes 4-1A Regional Champions

Frontenac and Girard will be sending a total of seven wrestlers to the Kansas Class 4-3-2-1A State Tournament in Salina, after three combined regional champions were crowned, Saturday, in the Class 4-1A Columbus A Regional Tournament at the CUHS Gymnasium in Columbus.
