Nine wrestlers to state tournament

The Columbus Unified High School Wrestling Program is sending nine wrestlers to the Kansas Class 4A and Class 4-1A State Tournaments in Salina. The Lady Titans 4-1A State is Wednesday and Thursday. Seven wrestlers will represent Columbus and vie for individual and team championships.

The Galena Bulldogs remained perfect for the regular basketball season with a 55-31 victory over the Riverton Rams in Riverton. The Bulldogs move to 18-0 at the top of the CNC League and the Kansas Class 3A Girard Sub-State standings.

Columbus Recreation Mini Titan Basketball Teams travel to Baxter Springs tomorrow for their final road games of the season. All games are played at the Baxter Springs High School with a three dollar entry fee for spectators 18 and over. Games begin on two courts at 8 a.m. Main Gym Schedule 8 a.m.

Titan Wrestlers to 4A Regional

Titan Wrestling will take their turn on the mats in the Kansas Class 4A Regional Tournament in Fort Scott, Saturday. A total of 61 teams will wrestle in four regional tournaments across the state vying for a spot in the Kansas Class 4A State Tournament in Salina, February 24-25.

CWC hosts Ken Jones Classic

The Columbus Wrestling Club is hosting the 4th Annual Ken Jones Classic, Sunday at the Columbus High School Gymnasium. The event will be split into two sessions with the 6U, 8U and girls to begin at 9 a.m. The afternoon session will have ages 10U, 12U, and 14U beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Smith, Neely take first in 14th Annual Frontenac Brawl

Cajen Smith, 10U 170, and Amory Neely, Girls 14U, 108-116, took first place for the Columbus Wrestling Club, February 11, at the 14th Annual Frontenac Youth Brawl, PM session. Smith won both matches over Jett Shanholtzer, Girard Matside Academy by pin.
