Teams plagued by penalties in Titan win

The game had more penalty yardage than total yardage gained but the Columbus Titans managed to overcome their 15 penalties for 162 yards to squeeze past their hosts, 15-14, Friday night in Baxter Springs.The teams combined for 301 total penalty yards with more flags than a Flag Day Parade.

Sports HOF to induct Brewer-Hunt, Hartley

Pam Brewer-Hunt and Drew Hartley have been chosen for induction into the Baxter Springs High School Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies at the high school commons area, October 18.

Southeast hosts Parsons, Frontenac

Southeast Varsity Volleyball hosted Parsons and Frontenac, Thursday, night for a triangular. The hosts were not able to come away with wins but competed against two strong teams. Parsons took their win in two sets, 25-12; 25-6 and Frontenac won the second match, 25-10; 25-16.

The Titan Spirit Squad is responsible for keeping spirits high and cheering on the team at Football games. Time in practice makes for a wellcoordinated and enthusiastic group, whose energy is contagious both on and off the field.

Junior, Braun Stone, ran in the two-point conversion to put the Titans back on top, 15-8, with seven minutes top play in the game.

Lady Lancers split league night bouts

Southeast Varsity split 1-1 Tuesday in the Three Rivers League Night at Uniontown. The Lady Lancers took the first match in three sets over Uniontown, 25-20; 14-25; 25-15 then lost to Erie, 2426; 22-25.Southeast is now 6-13 overall on the season and 5-5 in league play.

Flinn wins Baxter Springs JV Tourney

Lady Titan Freshman, Kristen Flinn, took first place at the Baxter Springs Junior Varsity Golf Tournament, Tuesday at the Baxter Springs Golf Course.Kristen shot a 52 on the par 36, 9-hole course to capture the medalist position at the top of the leader board.
