Gaither fifth, Simpson sixth at 3A State Track Meet

The Columbus Titan Track and Field Team sent three student athletes to the state track and field meet Friday and Saturday. They returned with two top ten and one 12th place finish.

The Columbus 10 and Under Rockettes Softball Team won the Memorial Maynia Tournament, May 23 in Joplin, Mo. The team won one game and lost one game in pool play before working their way through the bracket to earn a run-rule, 14-0, shut out win in the championship game for the title.

Titans of the Week

Titan Junior, Levi Simpson and freshman, Jace Gaither, earned All-CNC League Championships at the league meet, May 14. They are being recognized as Titans of the Week.

Girard, Colgan play for 3A, 2A state titles

The Girard Baseball Team will play their first Kansas Class 3A State Championship game in the school’s history today at 4 p.m. in Kansas State University’s Tointon Family Stadium. The Trojans finished fourth in the 2022 state tournament at the same stadium under head coach, Chris Dunlap.

McCoy 11th, BHS Lions sixth at state

Baxter Springs Freshman, Colt McCoy, was one stroke away from a top ten finish at the Kansas Class 3A State Golf Tournament after shooting a 15 over par, 155, two-day total to tie for 11th place. Colt, the CNC League Runner-up, received a state medal for his top 20 placing.

CNC eliminated from 3A state bracket

Two CNC League Softball Teams were eliminated from the quarterfinal round of the Kansas Class 3A State Tournament, eight team bracket, Monday, in Salina.The Frontenac Lady Raiders entered the tournament as the number four seed with a 21-4 record.

CNC has three in state baseball tourneys

The CNC League is sending three baseball and three softball teams to state. Two teams of the top eight in the state in the Kansas Class 3A Championships and one each in the Class 2A Championships. Frontenac, Colgan, and Girard on Baseball Teams; Frontenac, Colgan, and Baxter Springs Softball Teams.

Titans wrestle in freestyle/greco state

Six Titan Wrestlers competed the first weekend in May at the Freestyle/ Greco State Wrestling Tournament in Topeka. The event hosts the best-of-thebest for a weekend of tough competition.Briggs Johnson earned a trip to the Elementary Freestyle and Greco National Duals, June 6-7 in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

BHS Softball 3A regional champions

The Baxter Springs Lady Lion Softball Team are the 2026 Kansas Class 3A Regional Champion following big their tournament win, Thursday, over Osawatomie, 19-6.Riverton, the number 14 seed at 8-15, knocked off the number three seed, Galena in a 6-2, quarterfinal win, May 20.
