Panthers narrowly escape with win

The Columbus Titans had their best game of the season in a 52-54 loss to the St. Mary’s-Colgan Panthers, Friday, in Pittsburg. In a season of mostly double- digit losses, it was good to see the Titans come together and for a complete game.

The Columbus Lady Titans completed their 2025 regular season with a bang in a, 38-30, upset win over Chanute, Thursday. They are being recognized as Titans of the Week.The Lady Comets are currently ranked eighth in the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association’s weekly Class 4A state ranking.

Lady Titan offense struggles continue

The Columbus Lady Titans saw improvement in their point total by ten from Tuesday’s 17-40 loss to Riverton and their Friday night, 27-63, loss to St. Mary’s-Colgan in Pittsburg, but the offense is still struggling to put any points on the board.

Titan Junior Varsity wraps season

Columbus Titan Junior Varsity Wrestlers competed at Pittsburg, Thursday, in the JV Boys Mixer and made a trip to Erie, Saturday, to complete their season at the Erie JV Boys 2025 State Tournament.

CWC Mini Titans win three at Iola

Four members of the Columbus Wrestling Club brought back three wins following a trip to the Drop the Hammer Tournament at Iola, Sunday.Brody Eaton (6U 4749), Lucas Natalini 10U 78-83), and Kai Davis (12U 76-75) all took wins in their respective age and weight classes in a good day of wrestling.

Lacen twins take first at Monett

Members of the Columbus Wrestling Club, Kyra and Lyiah Lacen, swept through the 39th Annual Monett Youth Open and Girls Tournament in the six and under age classification, Saturday in Monett, Mo. The twin girls wrestle in separate weight classes in the division, earning the top spot on the podium.

Riverton edges Titans in JV battle

The Columbus Titan Junior Varsity has been honing their skills the last week against some pretty tough CNC League Teams. Tuesday, the junior Titans lost to Riverton, 61-63, at the Central Gymnasium. Friday, Columbus ran into a wild Panther team that took a 71-39 win in Pittsburg at St.

Rec Commission to host final games

The Columbus Recreation Commission is hosting the final round of league games tomorrow when St. Mary’s-Colgan comes to town for the day beginning at 8 a.m. at the CUHS and Central Gymnasiums. Concession stands will be available at all locations.

Columbus Fifth gets win over Lions

The Columbus Fifth Grade Boys basketball team played at Baxter Springs, Saturday, and came away with a 27-10 victory over the mini Lions.Lucas Haviland led the Titan scoring with 15 points in the win.

Titan Fourth loses first game

In a pair of hard fought games, the Baxter Springs Youth Basketball Fourth Graders got revenge on the Columbus Squad, Saturday, taking a 17-6 win and forcing an 18-18 tie. The Titans won both games in Columbus, January 25, 1612 and 12-9.
