Columbus residents earn honors at BCC

Barton Community College announced their President’s and Dean’s lists the fall 2021 semester. Dixee Lacen, Columbus, was named to the President’s List. To qualify for this honor students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.

At 9 a.m. Monday January 24, 2022, Commissioner Cory Moates called to order the regular session of the Cherokee County Commission in room #109 of the Cherokee County Courthouse located at 110 West Maple, Columbus, Kansas.

Budding scientists present research findings at Central fair

Highland Elementary third grade student Tanner Thompson entered the fifth annual Aspiring Minds Science Fair. Thompson’s project, “Gummy Bear Osmosis,” won the Love of Science award during the contest.

New donation comes with little information

We have started another new year at the museum, but there is still a lot of the old year that is unfinished. The Barbara Medler Christmas music boxes were placed back in the storeroom February 1. Some of the Masonic Lodge donation is still in the hallway.
