Big Brutus has become a haven for groups wanting an outing with a covered pavilion for lunch or dinner. The SEKOTGETA and several Scouting troops have used the Brutus facilites. The West Mineral All School Reunion will be held in the Brutus pavilion Friday, September 3 at 4 p.m.

A memorial scholarship has been instituted in memory of Betty Laswell who championed educational pursuits for future generations. Three local ladies have received awards.

Annual Little Balkans Day Festival starts Saturday

The 36th Annual Little Balkans Days Festival in Pittsburg is scheduled for August 28 through September 5. Numerous activities will be available, including an arts, crafts and food show, live music, as well as the return of “button events”.

Floriculture, crops results

Results in the Floriculture and Crops classes are as follows. In the Annuals-Floriculture division Ryleigh Holmes, Spring Valley Sparklers, was the Reserve Champion. She also earned three purple ribbons.

Weekly screen time report

Anyone else cringe at their weekly screen time report? Digging a little deeper, I see it tells me how many ‘pick ups’ I have and where I look first. I hate to admit it, but based this report, I am very close to the average adult, checking my phone every 12 minutes.
