Titan Junior, Easton Long and senior, Zane Gray received their All-CNC League honors following the final tournament in Galena, May 13. They are being recognized as Titans of the Week.

Junior Golf opens with clinic June 1

The Columbus Junior Golf Program will begin their 2026 season with their annual clinic, June 1-3. USD 493 students in grades K-12 are eligible to attend any or all three days of the clinic. To participate in the summer junior golf league tournaments, golfers must attend at least on day of clinic.

Lady Titans eliminated in heartbreaker

The Columbus Lady Titans came away from Wellsville with a heartbreaking, 4-5, loss to their hosts in a seventh inning walk off of the Kansas Class 3A Regional Quarterfinal match up.

CNC Teams advance in postseason

The Girard (21-5), Frontenac (16-4), and St. Mary’s-Colgan (16-7) baseball teams have all punched their tickets to the Kansas State Baseball Tournaments May 25-26.

Baxter Springs golf qualifies for state

The Baxter Springs High School Golf Team hosted the Kansas Class 3A Regional, Monday, and came away with their ticket punched for the state tournament, Tuesday and Wednesday in Topeka at the Lake Shawnee Golf Course.

All-CNC League golfers named

The CNC League handed out their All-CNC accolades for golf, May 13 following the final regular season tournament in Galena.The top ten golfers with the lowest combined score over the six CNC League Tournaments throughout the season are named All-CNC League honorees.

The Baxter Springs Lions won the Galena Invitational Golf Tournament, Wednesday, at Schifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin, Mo. The tournament was the last of six on the CNC League schedule to count toward the final league standings.

Three Southeast Lancers earned League Championships at the Three Rivers League Track and Field Meet, Friday, at the Oswego High School. Hudson Locke, junior, won the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:10.16 minutes.
Caleb Grant, Baxter Springs Junior, cleared 6’3” for a record setting new personal best height and earn the CNC League Championship in High Jump. Caleb’s new record is three inches higher than his previous best. Grant also collected a league championship with the 4x400M Relay Team. Courtesy photo.
