First Christian Church Memorial Stained Glass

“Jesus, Door to the Fold”, is the large center, stained glass window on the north side of the First Christian Church at 128 West Elm, Columbus. The window, dedicated on August 18, 1920, is a memorial to Mr. and Mrs. John Lundin.

Results announced for Cherokee County 4-H dog show

Results have been announced in the Cherokee County 4-H Dog show. In Senior Fitting and Showing Michael Shepard, Spring Valley Sparklers, was Grand Champion. Peyton Herrenbruck, Glittering Stones, was the Reserve Champion. Charles Sharp, Spring Valley Sparklers, was awarded a purple ribbon.

Cherokee County 4-H, open horse show began fair week

Over 100 youngsters attend VBS

In big “Toy Story” fashion 120 children ages four-10 celebrated “His Story” this week at the Grace Community Church of Riverton’s Vacation Bible School. This year five area churches came together to present one big VBS story.

Local Girl Scouts earn community service pins

Recently Anna Head and Izabel Manus received their Cadette Girl Scout community service pins. The award requires a commitment of service to a nonprofit organization. Both girls chose the community free lunch program in Columbus.

Peine is 4-H member of month for August

The 4-H member of the month for August is Tucker Peine. Peine, 18, is a member of the Glittering Stones 4-H Club. He is also a member of the Columbus Future Farmers of America where he retired his roles as president of the local chapter and treasurer of the Southeast District.

During the rabbit show

During the rabbit show at the Cherokee County Fair 4-H members were judged on their animals. In Senior Fitting and Showing Joshua Brown was the Grand Champion. Akissa French was Grand Champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing and Ava Allison was the Reserve Champion.

During the Poultry Show

During the Poultry Show at the Cherokee County Fair, Dusti Henderson was named Reserve Champion in Senior Fitting and Showing. Michael Shepard was Grand Champion. Shepard was also Grand Champion in Broiler and Bantam Young. Dusti Henderson was Grand Champion in Ducks.

Frobish descendants hold family reunion

The descendants of Will and Lizzie Frobish held their thirty-eighth annual reunion at the Cherokee County 4-H Building in Columbus, Sunday July 4, with 80 in attendance from seven States, including Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Indiana, and Idaho.

In the Poultry Intermediate

In the Poultry Intermediate Fitting and Showing Class, Hudson Asher was Grand Champion and Oasis Wade was Reserve Champion. Wade was also named Reserve Champion in Bantam Old. Asher was named Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in Pigeons.
