Several classes have sent their class alumni information on the upcoming 2023 All school reunion – the committee says “Thank You” to those classes. It is not uncommon after the letters are mailed, for the Chamber office to receive some returns (people have moved, etc.

The first three months of this year just flew by. I think this went faster than January and February. It could be that I get slower and slower as I grow more mature (older). We did stay pretty busy all month long. First, we want to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Marilyn Mitts Jenney.

Chapter BT of P.E.O. International met for a luncheon meeting on Monday, April 3 at the Pizza Hut in Baxter Springs. Members were served a cake by the hostess, Delores Crane. She presented each member a cute washcloth bunny holding a chocolate egg. Janet Lazenby served as pro tem guard.

Titan Junior, John Smith, received an award for being the top individual for class C in the Missouri Southern State College Math League. To earn this award, he got the most questions correct all year round in the classification. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Melvin and Prudy (Rion) Huffman returned to the scene of their wedding 70 years ago to celebrate their anniversary on Sunday. Family and friends filled the Galena Community Center on Sunday afternoon as everyone visited with the Weir couple and recalled the years of their life.

Cherokee County 4-H has announced the member of the month for April is twelve-year-old James Maxton. He is beginning his sixth year of 4-H as a member of the Spring Valley Sparklers. Maxton enjoys participating in shooting sports, the swine project, foods, sewing, crafts, and woodworking.
