The Chamber has heard locals state “We need to drop the Hot Air Balloon Regatta.” Let us tell you why we don’t. We know it is risky, but this event is unique and it brings visitors to town and they leave money in our businesses and the city gets sales tax and motel guest tax funds.

It’s almost time for the annual Columbus Day Festival 5K. Preregister at American Bank before October 6 to receive a discount on the entry fee. Early regis- tration fee is $20. On the day of the race, October 8, the fee will be $25. SEK Road Runner members can deduct $1 off of preregistration.

Wildcat 4-H team qualifies for nationals

Wildcat 4-H livestock, meats, quiz bowl, and skill-a-thon judging teams traveled to Kansas State University for the state 4-H sweepstakes contest recently. Wildcat District 4-H is comprised of youth from Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, and Wilson counties.

Keenagers chorus to begin rehearsals

The Keenagers, a senior citizens’ chorus, will begin rehearsals for the 2022/23 season Friday, September 9. The choir is made up of musicians age 50 and above from all over the Four State area. Rehearsals will be held weekly each Friday at 3 p.m.
