It’s almost time for the annual Columbus Day Festival 5K. Preregister at American Bank before October 6 to receive a discount on the entry fee. Early regis- tration fee is $20. On the day of the race, October 8, the fee will be $25. SEK Road Runner members can deduct $1 off of preregistration.

Ten contestants compete for Little Mister, Miss Columbus

It’s time to vote for the next Little Mr. and Miss Columbus. This year six girls and four boys have entered the contest.

Wildcat 4-H team qualifies for nationals

Wildcat 4-H livestock, meats, quiz bowl, and skill-a-thon judging teams traveled to Kansas State University for the state 4-H sweepstakes contest recently. Wildcat District 4-H is comprised of youth from Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, and Wilson counties.

Keenagers chorus to begin rehearsals

The Keenagers, a senior citizens’ chorus, will begin rehearsals for the 2022/23 season Friday, September 9. The choir is made up of musicians age 50 and above from all over the Four State area. Rehearsals will be held weekly each Friday at 3 p.m.

Celebrate the end of summer with Red Iron Activity Center

The public is invited to celebrate the end of one long hot summer at the Red Iron Activity Center Thursday, September 8. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the center which is located at 605 S. East Avenue in Columbus.

Annual Columbus back to school carnival is a success

During the annual Back to School Carnival, high school students Airauna Sharp and Charles Sharp assisted with driving the train ride. Among the games and activities at the annual Back to School Carnival was a giant connect four board.
